Moses O.T. Owharo
Moses O.T. Owharo, who hails from Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta State, Nigeria, was the first democratically elected Executive President of the All Nigerian Community, Ghana, in an election conducted by the Electoral Commission of Ghana at the Nigeria High Commission in Accra. Before the election, the population of Nigerians in Ghana was estimated at over 4 million.
Before his election, Mr. Owharo was General Secretary of the Ghana Association of Financial NGOs (Southern Zone), Regional Secretary of ANC-GH in the Volta Region, and later Chairman of the ANC Ketu District chapter for four years. He was a Regional Delegate on the 2013 ANC-GH Constitutional Review Committee, responsible for drafting the 2013 Constitution.
He is a businessman and social entrepreneur in microfinance, healthcare and general business, holding a certificate from Harvard Business School, Boston, and George Washington University, USA. He is also the founder/CEO of ASPI and Group Chairman of the African Business Venture and Investment Group (ABVIG).
He successfully implemented projects for USAID, the Ghana Government Health Service, the Ministry of Food and Agriculture Farmers Based Organization Project, and the UN World Food Programme — both as consultant and project partner — and currently consults for West Africa on steel factory establishment in Africa.
Seeing the bigger challenges facing all Africans in diaspora, Mr. Owharo felt the diaspora needed one voice under one umbrella body — the International Community of Africans in Diaspora (ICAD), incorporated in Ghana.
