How ICAD partners for impact
To partner with the various countries, host national governments and agencies, the African Union (AU) and ECOWAS to anchor and ensure actionable commitment on the United Nations' provision on human rights, civil liberty and economic development.
Through its resident ambassadors, ICAD mobilises and advocates for diaspora inclusion in national and international policy, and supports national political and developmental agendas across its host countries.
Why one voice, under one umbrella
Moses O.T. Owharo, ICAD's founder, hails from Isoko North Local Government Area, Delta State, Nigeria. Before founding ICAD, he was the first democratically elected Executive President of the All Nigerian Community, Ghana (ANC-GH), in an election conducted by the Electoral Commission of Ghana at the Nigeria High Commission in Accra.
Seeing the challenges facing all Africans in diaspora — deprivation of voting rights and exclusion from national and international policy-making — Mr. Owharo felt the diaspora needed one voice under one umbrella body. This vision became the International Community of Africans in Diaspora (ICAD), incorporated in Ghana.
