The International Community of Africans in Diaspora (ICAD) was established to address the critical challenges faced by Africans living abroad, particularly in securing voting rights, inclusion in national and international policy-making, and meaningful participation in development initiatives. Driven by these pressing needs, Mr. Owharo envisioned a unified platform to amplify the collective voice of Africans in the diaspora, culminating in the incorporation of ICAD in Ghana on August 30, 2017, under the Ghanaian Companies Code of 1963.

ICAD is dedicated to uniting Africans in the diaspora to contribute actively to global peace, civil liberties, human rights advocacy, conflict resolution, and economic development. This mission is pursued through initiatives that promote leadership excellence and drive transformative change. To achieve its goals, ICAD collaborates with national governments, international agencies, and regional organizations such as the African Union (AU) and ECOWAS, ensuring alignment with the United Nations' principles on human rights, civil liberties, and sustainable economic progress.

Through a strategic and dynamic framework led by its resident ambassadors, ICAD mobilizes diaspora communities to advocate for their inclusion in national and international policy discourse. The organization actively supports national political frameworks and developmental agendas, forging partnerships that prioritize actionable commitments to global and regional progress. Guided by this vision, ICAD continues to strengthen the collective influence of Africans in the diaspora, empowering them to drive meaningful change and foster sustainable development on the global stage.
